Wallpaper Installers in Windsor

Wallpaper installer applying wallpaper to wall in Windsor property

Windsor Decorators are wallpaper installers covering feature walls, full room installations, and period property stairwells across the Royal Borough.

  • Feature walls with precise pattern matching and seam alignment
  • Full room wallpapering from ceiling line to skirting board
  • Lining paper on imperfect or replastered surfaces
  • Period properties with cornicing and tall ceilings
  • Existing wallpaper removal and surface preparation

Georgian hallways in Windsor townhouses with tall ceilings, cornicing, and a landing return present a precision hanging challenge. Pattern-matching on a raked stairwell requires experience with long drops and the ability to maintain vertical registration across a curved ceiling line.

Wallpapering Services

Feature Walls

A single feature wall changes the balance of a room without the cost or commitment of full wallpapering. Your decorator hangs one wall cleanly, matching the pattern at every seam and trimming precisely at ceiling, skirting, and any obstacles.

Feature walls work best when pattern and scale are right for the room. For rooms where paint and wallpaper will meet on adjacent walls, we coordinate the finish with our interior painting service.

Full Room Wallpapering

Every wall hung from ceiling line to skirting with consistent seam alignment and pattern flow. Full room installations require careful measurement, planning of the starting point, and precise cutting at every corner and obstacle.

Rooms with many doors and windows require more cutting and take longer per square metre than open walls. We quote based on the actual room rather than a rate per roll.

Lining Paper

Walls with surface variation, old paint texture, or recently repaired areas benefit from lining paper before the final paper hangs. Lining provides a smooth, stable surface and prevents the finish paper from showing every imperfection in the wall underneath.

Many period properties in Windsor and Eton have walls where old wallpaper residue, plaster repairs, or uneven surface condition makes lining the correct first step.

Period Properties and Cornicing

Hanging wallpaper in a Georgian or Victorian property with cornicing, picture rails, and tall ceilings requires more precision than a standard modern room. Every drop is longer and every cut at the cornice needs to be clean.

We have extensive experience on Windsor town properties and Eton terraces where these details are standard. Getting them wrong is visible from the doorway.

Wallpaper Removal

Existing wallpaper must be fully removed before new paper is hung. We soak, scrape, and remove thoroughly without scoring or gouging the plaster underneath.

In period properties with original lime plaster, careful removal matters. We remove wallpaper by hand after soaking, which takes longer but preserves the wall.

What Drives the Price

Room complexity. A plain feature wall is straightforward. A full room with multiple doors, windows, and a chimney breast has more cuts per drop and takes proportionally longer.

Pattern repeat. Large repeat patterns require more planning and produce more waste from each roll. Small repeats and plain papers hang faster with less material loss.

Single Feature Wall

A single feature wall in a medium room with a medium pattern repeat typically costs £280 to £480. This includes surface preparation and trimming.

Full Room Wallpapering

Full room wallpapering in a modern or post-war property with standard ceiling height and a medium pattern typically costs £550 to £950. This includes lining paper if needed.

Feature Hallway and Stairwell

A feature hallway and stairwell in a Georgian townhouse in Windsor town with tall ceilings, a complex pattern, and long drops typically costs £650 to £1,050+. Georgian and Victorian properties sit at the top end of the cost range for any wallpaper job.

Here’s How It Works

1. Site Visit

Your decorator assesses the room, measures each wall, discuss pattern choice and placement, and identifies any preparation needed.

2. Removal and Preparation

Existing wallpaper is removed. Walls are washed, holes and cracks are filled, and lining paper is hung if needed.

3. Pattern Planning

We plan the starting point and hanging sequence based on the pattern repeat and the room’s focal points.

4. Hanging

Lengths are cut, pasted, and hung in sequence. Pattern registration is checked between each drop.

5. Inspection and Finish

All seams are checked for visibility and adhesion. Excess paste is cleaned from woodwork and skirting before we leave.
